How are we engaged in STEM?
Bee Heroes Grant with Planet Bee
As part of our Bee Heroes grant in partnership with Planet Bee, our focus extends to organizations championing STEM-related projects. This spans elementary schools offering supplementary beekeeping classes, non-profits investing in education on native bees, and universities developing smart beehives with temperature regulation. Thanks to initiatives like these, we aim to contribute to a brighter future for the bee population.

In 2022, the team at element14 Community initiated a design challenge that encouraged engineers to come up with ideas for projects that could help preserve bee populations. The challenge resulted in a range of innovative ideas, from sensors for beehives to programs capable of identifying different species of bees and other insects. Have a look at the current status of our beehives located in Europe. We have adopted six beehives across Europe and are delighted to see how technology has positively impacted in-hive conditions. Our 3Bee app helps us monitor critical metrics, such as humidity, temperature, weight, and other important factors that ensure the bees' well-being.

We Support
Our Bee project collaborates with three organizations globally, each focusing on different aspects of beekeeping. Learn more here:
3Bee develops systems to improve bees' health and to protect the biodiversity. Through their unique technologies, beekeepers can constantly and comprehensively monitor their hives in order to optimize production, save time and treat their bees by preventing problems and diseases.
The World Bee Project runs beekeeping education and skills trainings for tribal women from rural India, which enable them to establish sustainable livelihoods as beekeepers through the sale of honey and bee products. The women also help to restore biodiversity by planting declining plant species and learn to protect and increase populations of the native honeybee species.
Planet Bee is dedicated to creating a green-minded generation by teaching about the importance of bees as a pathway to STEM through the power of science and stewardship. We support project Beekeeper’s in Need dedicated for beekeepers with a grant to start one or more beehives.
